Ceux que j'ai déjà contactés où qui étaient présents l'an dernier sont déjà au courant. On se refait un apéro Flash sur Paris vendredi qui vient (vendredi 21 novembre) mardi qui vient (mardi 25 novembre).

Un apéro Flash ça consiste en gros à se réunir de manière tout à fait informelle autour d'une table pour prendre l'apéro (ça c'était facile). Puis si les convives sont suffisamment nombreux et de bon poil, à éventuellement enchainer sur un repas où on pourra bavasser à loisir sur Flash, Flex, Air et notre profession en général.

Certains d'entre-vous sont déjà au courant, je travaille pour le groupe Meetic (le leader européen de la rencontre en ligne) depuis maintenant un peu plus de 2 ans. Or, chez Meetic comme partout ailleurs sur le marché de l'emploi des nouvelles technologies, ça bouge beaucoup en ce moment. Nous cherchons donc à recruter deux nouveaux collaborateurs pour rejoindre mon équipe au Lab, au sein du pôle R&D de l'entreprise.

J'ai déjà commencé les entretiens, mais comme vous le savez surement, les propositions d'emploi dans ce secteur sont nombreuses et il est souvent difficile de s'y retrouver. Je poste donc ce billet en tant que futur collaborateur pour vous apporter directement les éléments d'informations qui sauront vous convaincre de postuler.

As you may have read on my blog last month, Flex Builder 3 (means 3.0.0) did not work with Ganymede without to have to apply a non official patch to it. It's now fixed with Flex Builder 3.0.1 that cames out monday.

Eclipse 3.4 code named Ganymede just came out with some new cool features. But I have tested to install both Eclipse 3.4 and the last Flex Builder 3 plug-in from the Adobe website, and they don't work together. Eclipse can't launch Flex editor when needed. So in case you search the Internet for this info like me before, you'll find it here.

I don't know if Adobe will update Flex Builder 3 plug-in to work with Eclipse 3.3 and Eclipse 3.4 or if they will bundle Eclipse 3.4 with the incoming Flex Builder 4. I personally hope that they will update Flex Builder 3 plug-in as soon as possible and launch Flex Builder 4 bundled with Ganymede.

There is actually some buzz around the 60 frames per second draw rate limit fixed by browsers to Flash player. All the noise cames from the bubblemark benchmark that is intended to compare performances of different plug-ins while playing an animation at the maximum speed they can. The only result we get with this test is there is a limit fixed by browsers to the draw rate of plug-ins. Everybody is agree to said that results of this test are distorted.

«Working sets» is an underused Flex Navigator functionality that could save you a lot of time when your Flex workspace contains many projects.

As its name says, it allows you to create sets of Flex projects to work on. The magic is that when a «working set» is selected, Flex navigator only shows projects related to this set. You could access all your classes and files in an instant.

It is not as cool as Java navigator filters (implemented in Flex navigator but not working) nor as Eclipse switching workspace that could share the same settings (not implemented yet), but it does its job when needed.

I will show you how to configure the whole thing.

Two weeks ago Oliver Goldman from Adobe wrote a post where he reveals that the warning about installing an Air application will stay in the next version, even if you choose to publish an application that do not access the user file system.

I personally think that this will tarnish the reputation of Air. I so have asked him in a comment why not display the warning before the application asks to access the file system, while offering at the same time an option to ask to never display this warning again. Surprisingly Oliver reacts to my comment in a second post. All I can say is that he doesn't like the "just in time warning" solution.

Je relaie ici la bonne idée qu'a eu notre confrère Stéphane de créer une carte collaborative sur Google pour que chaque développeur Flex un peu éloigné de la région parisienne puisse faire savoir quelle région il habite. Le but étant que chacun puisse avoir connaissance de la présence d'un ou plusieurs confrères dans sa région pour organiser des rencontres entre développeurs.

Today the monthly Microsoft updates contains an update that will end the display of the message "Click to activate and use this control" and the surrounding yellow focus rectangle over Flash animations in Internet Explorer.
