«Working sets», an helpful Flex Navigator functionality«Working sets», an helpful Flex Navigator functionality«Working sets» is an underused Flex Navigator functionality that could save you a lot of time when your Flex workspace contains many projects. As its name says, it allows you to create sets of Flex projects to work on. The magic is that when a «working set» is selected, Flex navigator only shows projects related to this set. You could access all your classes and files in an instant. It is not as cool as Java navigator filters (implemented in Flex navigator but not working) nor as Eclipse switching workspace that could share the same settings (not implemented yet), but it does its job when needed. I will show you how to configure the whole thing.
First you may know that using «working sets» does not modify your workspace, nor it move files on your disk. It's safe. "Working sets" are accessible when you click on the down arrow located on the top right of the Flex Navigator : ![]() Click the arrow and choose "select working set" : ![]() Click the "new" button in the window that appears : ![]() Select the resource set type : ![]() Name the «working set» and select the projects you want to include in it : ![]() Select at least one «working set» to work on : ![]() You can change the selected working set or returns the flex navigator at its original states at any time : ![]() Now the Flex navigator is clean and only shows the working set you selected : ![]() The only thing to note is that for a «working set» appears immediately in the down arrow pop-menu, you will have to select it at least one time form the "Select working set" window and return to the Flex navigator. You should try “Mylyn” plugin for Eclipse (and so Flex), it’s a task list that can dynamicaly set working sets according the files you working on while a task is opened.
besides this it can be synchronized and used to manage a team, and it can be interfaced with subversion, trac etc…
